A re-elected Malinauskas Labor Government will invest in an additional three Technical Colleges, two in Metro Adelaide and one in Regional South Australia, expanding the number of Technical Colleges to a total of eight across the State.

At the 2022 State Election, the Malinauskas Labor Team made a commitment to build five new Technical Colleges across the State. With all five Colleges to be opened by 2026, there are now more than 1,000 students enrolled in these new Technical Colleges across the State.

South Australia has the fastest growing economy in the nation. With AUKUS, increased copper production, and the transformation of the digital economy, our future opportunities for further growth are even greater than those we know today. To seize these opportunities, we must deliver more skilled workers to meet the needs of industry.

It is estimated that South Australia will need 165,000 additional workers over the next decade. Technical Colleges are an essential component in addressing South Australia’s skills needs and seizing the State’s economic opportunities in priority sectors, including Construction and Infrastructure, Defence and Manufacturing, Clean Energy, Education, Tech and Artificial Intelligence, and Care.

That is why a re-elected Malinauskas Labor Government will build an additional three Technical Colleges, strengthening our commitment to addressing skills shortages and seizing the State’s unprecedented economic opportunities, and expanding the total number of Technical Colleges to eight across the State.

By investing in education, training and skills, the Malinauskas Labor Government is lifting living standards and ensuring every young South Australian has access to a quality education and a clear path to a decent job. Because not every student needs to go to university to get a good job, nor should they.

This policy includes:
  • 3 additional Technical Colleges, bringing the total to 8 in South Australia
  • 2 more Technical Colleges in Metro Adelaide
  • 1 more Technical College in Regional South Australia
  • Ensuring a fairer, safer and healthier workplace
