The Malinauskas Labor Government has secured land on the corner of Springbett Road and Concordia Road through a partnership with CLT (Concordia Land Trust). The site will be used for the new Greater Northern Adelaide Hospital, servicing the growing outer northern suburbs and the Barossa Valley region.
If re-elected, the Malinauskas Labor Government will immediately commence planning for the hospital at the heart of one of the state’s fastest growing housing corridors. Construction is expected to begin early next decade, following completion of the new Women’s and Children’s Hospital in 2031, ensuring experienced trades are available to transition directly onto the project.
The new hospital will help ease pressure on the busy Lyell McEwin Hospital and reduce the flow of patients to city hospitals as more homes are built in the north to accommodate South Australia’s growing workforce population.
Concordia is set to be home to 12,000 new homes and around 25,000 to 30,000 residents over the next thirty years. This means the future Greater Northern Adelaide Hospital will be located close to where people will live and work. As one of the state’s most significant housing growth fronts, Concordia will be delivered through South Australia’s first ever infrastructure scheme, setting a new benchmark for how the State Government and developers work together to plan communities properly and support residents from day one.
Labor’s plan will deliver a new health facility in a location that best serves growing communities in the outer northern suburbs while supporting one of the most significant housing growth frontiers in the country for generations to come.
