On average, more than 4,000 vehicles, including around 650 heavy vehicles, use the Horrocks Highway each day. The Horrocks Highway is a key transport corridor, supporting tourism and keeping local businesses connected.
Over the past four years, the South Australian Malinauskas Labor Government has delivered significant upgrades to the Horrocks Highway, including new overtaking lanes both north and south of Tarlee.
Other improvements include shoulder sealing, pavement rehabilitation, lane widening, sealing of local road approaches, bridge upgrades, safety barriers, audio tactile line marking, and improvements to the Gladstone rail corridor and level crossing.
A re-elected Malinauskas Labor Government will invest $90 million to further improve the quality and safety of the Horrocks Highway, strengthening connectivity and supporting continued economic growth across South Australia’s Mid North through a stronger freight network.
