Since 2012, Backpacks 4 SA Kids has delivered more than 110,000 programs supporting children and young people displaced by family and domestic violence, neglect, homelessness, or poverty.
Backpacks 4 SA Kids is currently operating from temporary premises after being forced to vacate its Para Hills West warehouse.
If re-elected in March, the Malinauskas Labor Government will contribute $500,000 towards the construction of a new Backpacks for SA Kids facility, which will be built at Rundle Reserve, Salisbury South on land provided by the City of Salisbury for a peppercorn rent.
More than a warehouse, the facility will be a shared community space where volunteers, grassroots organisations and families can connect, learn from and support one another.
