A re-elected Malinauskas Labor Government will support public housing tenants by building 200 new supported accommodation places and renovating 300 vacant Housing Trust homes.

South Australia has a proud history of public housing. However, for the three decades before the Malinauskas Labor Government was elected in 2022, our public housing stock had been in serious decline.

The Malinauskas Labor Government has built more than 1,000 new homes, achieving the first significant net increase in South Australia’s public housing stock in a generation.

We understand that building new homes is just one part of what we can do to ensure our neighbourhoods and Housing Trust tenants are supported.

That is why a re-elected Malinauskas Labor Government will support public housing tenants by building 200 new supported accommodation places to help prevent anti-social behaviour and give everyone the opportunity to thrive.

Additionally, we will invest $30 million to significantly renovate and renew 300 vacant, run-down Housing Trust homes, bringing these vital assets back into stock and providing more housing options for families who need them most.

A re-elected Malinauskas Labor Government will continue to deliver on our achievements to ensure safe, stable and suitable homes and neighbourhoods, because Labor understands that Housing Trust properties can be life-changing.

Labor's Plan to Restore The Trust:
  • Build 200 supported accommodation places to give more support to those who need it
  • Significantly renovate 300 run-down Housing Trust properties, to bring them back into stock
