A re-elected Malinauskas Labor Government plans to keep women and children safer from predators with world-leading reforms to ban domestic violence and sexual offenders from using online dating platforms.

Dating apps are now a part of modern life.

But right now, sex offenders can access online dating services to meet and target unsuspecting people.

That is why a re-elected Malinauskas Labor Government will introduce world leading reforms to keep women and children safer by banning domestic violence and sexual offenders from using online dating platforms.

Under Labor’s proposal, serious offenders could face bans of up to a lifetime, with a default ban of at least 10 years for all offenders.

Those caught breaching the ban would face penalties of up to five years in jail.

More than 3 million Australians, including around 200,000 South Australians, use online dating apps at any given time.

With most dating platforms currently unable to verify the identity of all users, these popular services can become a place where offenders hide in plain sight.

People using online dating services deserve to do so with confidence and safety.
