Labor is the only political party with a plan to get parked cars off overcrowded suburban streets.
Labor's vehicle parking reforms would require garages to be large enough to fit modern cars and mandate sufficient off-street parking for every new home.
A re-elected Malinauskas Labor Government will legislate these changes as a priority and write to every council in the state to ensure local parking rules support the reforms.
The proposed changes would mean one-bedroom homes are required to have one off-street car park, while homes with two or more bedrooms would need to have at least two off-street car parks.
Minimum dimensions for off-street vehicle parking areas would also be increased so that large passenger and utility vehicles sold in Australia can be parked with sufficient width to allow driver and passenger doors to be opened without hitting garage walls.
