A re-elected Malinauskas Labor Government will continue and expand upon our world-leading work to improve and protect our natural environment.

South Australia is home to some of the world’s most beautiful and unique natural environments.

We are also a global leader in clean, sustainable energy generation and environmental innovation.

The Malinauskas Labor Government has built on South Australia’s global leadership through ambitious commitments to renewable energy, pioneering new animal welfare and biodiversity legislation, significant expansions of our national parks, and unprecedented measures to protect our marine environment.

Labor understands that a healthy environment underpins $70 billion of the state’s economic activity and $11 billion of exports.

That is why a re-elected Malinauskas Labor Government will continue and expand upon our world-leading work by revitalising our rivers and waterways, providing more support for conservation volunteers, and expanding vital efforts to improve and protect South Australia’s pristine and unique environment.

Labor's Plan to protect our environment includes:
  • $5 million to clean and revitalise our rivers and waterways
  • World heritage for the Flinders Ranges and Great Australian Bight
  • $1.2 million for nature-based tourism upgrades
  • 100% net renewables by 2027
  • Ongoing rollout of measures to restore our marine environment
  • $13 million for conservation and natural heritage
