Rick Sarre

Rick Sarre is an Emeritus Professor with almost four decades of experience as a lawyer, lecturer, and researcher, dedicated to criminal justice reform, restorative justice, and supporting vulnerable communities.

Over a 35-year teaching career, Rick established himself as one of Australia's leading voices in criminology and criminal justice. He served as Dean of the UniSA Law School from 2019-2020 and was Chair of the University's Academic Board from 2011-2016.

Rick holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Adelaide, a Master of Arts in Criminology from the University of Toronto, and a Doctorate of Legal Science from the University of Canberra. In 2015, he was awarded an honorary doctorate in law from Umeå University in Sweden, and in 2023 completed a PhD at UniSA. He is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Criminology, a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law, and an Honorary Professorial Fellow of the Australian Institute of Police Management.

As Past President of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Criminology (2012-2016), Rick has shaped national conversations about criminal justice. His research on police accountability, crime prevention, and restorative justice has informed policy debates and government inquiries at both state and national levels.

Deeply rooted in the local community, Rick is passionate about securing real results for the residents of Bragg and building a strong future for Adelaide's eastern suburbs.
