Olivia Savvas

Olivia has been the Member for Newland since 2022, having previously served as a Tea Tree Gully Councillor. Olivia was elected at only 25, and is the youngest woman ever elected to the South Australian House of Assembly.

Olivia grew up in Tea Tree Gully and worked at 42nd Street Café as a University student. It was as a former Tea Tree Plaza worker that Olivia committed to legislate against paid parking at her local Westfield.

Olivia holds a Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of International Studies and Diploma of Languages from the University of Adelaide. The grandchild of migrants, Olivia has a keen interest in multiculturalism. She speaks French, having both studied and worked in France and Canada.

Olivia regularly advocates for better outcomes for bereaved parents. She has been incredibly proud to Chair the South Australian Parliament’s Select Committee into Stillbirth in memory of her brother, Benjamin.

Today, Olivia lives in St Agnes. In her downtime, you’ll find Olivia at Memorial Oval with her dog Honey, or at Golden Grove playing for her beloved Strikers Netball Club.
