David Ewings

David Ewings is Labor’s candidate for Stuart at the 2026 State Election.

Born and raised in the Upper Spencer Gulf, David Ewings has deep roots in regional South Australia and a lifelong commitment to the people and communities of the north. From a young age, David’s life has reflected the hard work, resilience and sense of service that define our region.

David began his working life at the Whyalla Steelworks, where he learned the value of good, secure jobs and proudly stood alongside fellow workers building not just steel, but local opportunity. His passion for service then took him into the Royal Australian Air Force, where he served with distinction in aircraft maintenance, including deployments overseas. 

After his service, David continued working in the mining sector, gaining firsthand experience in industries that are central to Stuart’s economy and to the livelihoods of many families across the electorate. Today, he applies his community focus to his role with the Kokatha Aboriginal Corporation, working collaboratively to support First Nations’ aspirations and sustainable development across the region.

David lives with his wife Bec and their two dogs, Bailey and Lucy-Lou. In his spare time he enjoys fishing, camping and playing guitar.
