Area:approx. 607.0km2 Location: A peri-urban district, which includes the town of Gawler to the north of the greater Adelaide area. The Light River forms a section of the northerly boundary while the Para River and suburbs to the north of Adelaide form the boundary on the south/south east. History: The district is one of only two (with Flinders) to bear the name of one of the 17 original 1857 Assembly districts. Unlike Flinders, it was abolished in 1902 but revived in 1936, effective at the election held in 1938.
