Biography

Leon Lives in Woodcroft and has a young son, Conor.

Leon’s journalism career began at The Adelaide News in 1984 and he’s worked for the Advertiser, The Sunday Mail, Channel 7, Channel 10 and the ABC.

Before entering Parliament, Leon worked for the Rann Government – building South Australia as the Infrastructure Minister’s Chief of Staff.

Electorate Profile - Mawson

Sir Douglas Mawson (1882-1956), scientist and explorer, was associated with the University of Adelaide from 1905 and its Professor of Geology 1921-1952. He was a member of an Antarctic Expedition in 1908 and led three other Antarctic Expeditions 1911-1914, 1929 and 1931. He also made geological studies in South Australia.

Area:approx. 246.6km2

Location: South of the metropolitan area, the district incorporates outer southern residential suburbs as well as the grape growing district of McLaren Vale and adjacent agricultural land.

History: Created at the 1969 boundaries redistribution.
